Jawan: Shah Rukh Khan’s “Bete ko hath lagane se pehle… was not in the script, reveals writer

Shah Rukh Khan is currently making headlines for the success of Atlee’s Jawan. One of the most talked about scenes from the film is where SRK says the dialogue, “Bete ko hath lagane se pehle, baap se baat kar.” The line became a huge hit with fans and now, the writer has revealed that it wasn’t in the initial script of Jawan.

Jawan’s dialogue went viral as soon as the film’s trailer dropped. As multiple reports, writer Sumit Arora revealed that Shah Rukh Khan’s famous line was not in the script but was added on the day of the shoot. The scene in question was originally going to be shot without a dialogue but when the makers felt that it needed a line, Arora’s first suggestion was “Bete ko hath lagane se pehle, baap se baat kar.”

Shah Rukh Khan and Atlee reportedly agreed and the scene was shot with the dialogue. Fans are now connecting the onscreen moment as a commentary on SRK’s son Aryan Khan’s arrest in October 2021. Aryan was cleared of charges after serving 25 days in jail.

Arora added, “The way SRK sir delivered it gave us goosebumps. But we never thought that the line would become such a huge hit and would resonate with people in this way.”
