Bajirao Mastani, a 2015 movie directed by Sanjay Leela Bhansali and starring Ranveer Singh and Deepika Padukone, caused quite the buzz when it originally came out. According to certain rumors, Salman Khan and Aishwarya Rai Bachchan were first promised the movie. An old video from Aishwarya has recently reappeared in which she discusses why she declined to sign the movie.
Aishwarya said to Karan Johar, “He (Sanjay) did see us working as the cast that he saw was ideal for the film. But circumstantially, I could not work with the kind of team he was looking at.”
“Well, I was game to play Mastani but not with the Bajirao he had in mind. So, this was evident probably nationally. The media made it out to be that Aishwarya walks out of Bajirao Mastani. We hadn’t communicated then because I was in hospital with my leg laid up,” she concluded.
Later, Sanjay worked on the movie with Deepika and Ranveer. In the historical love story, Deepika Padukone and Ranveer Singh played a warrior prince named Mastani and Peshwa Bajirao, respectively.
Ranveer Singh most recently appeared with Alia Bhatt in Karan Johar’s Rocky Aur Rani Kii Prem Kahaani. The over-the-top characters, upbeat music, and extravagant settings of the movie—all hallmarks of a Karan Johar family comedy—were enthusiastically appreciated by the audiences.
Meanwhile, Deepika recently had a lengthy appearance in Shah Rukh Khan’s eagerly anticipated movie Jawan.
